Halloween in Utah this year
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, making it a prime weekend night for lots of fun things to do all across Utah. Most haunted houses, corn mazes and pumpkin patches run right up to Saturday night, the biggest trunk-or-treats and city carnivals crowd onto the last two weekends of October, and a handful of haunts keep their doors open into November. If you've been meaning to get to one, there are more good nights left than it might seem.
Go Do pulls every one of these from the calendars of the farms, haunts, theaters, libraries, museums and cities that run them, and checks them daily to be sure all of our suggestions are as current as possible. See below for our top picks and the full list of everything going on around Utah with links to the full details about each one, a map, and even weather forecasts, restaurants, and hotels nearby.
This guide lets you choose between everything going on and easily plan on the kind of night that's perfect for you. If you want to be scared, start with the haunted houses. If you have little ones, skip ahead to the not-so-scary section. Corn mazes and pumpkin patches, shows and concerts, ghost tours, grown-up parties, Day of the Dead and costume runs each have their own section, and the full list of all 543 events sits below the guide. Enjoy, and have a happy and safe Halloween!
How to plan your Halloween night
Pick your scare level first. Haunted houses are made for teens and adults, and most set a suggested minimum age; it's worth checking before you bring a younger sibling along. A few go further than jump scares: full-contact haunts let the actors touch you, and they say so up front. If anyone in your group is on the fence, a haunted hayride or a lights-on walk like Fright Lights is a better way to go.
Go early in the week or early in the night. The Friday and Saturday nights closest to Halloween are the busiest everywhere, and this year that means Oct 23–24 and Oct 30–31. Weeknights, and the first hour after the doors open, are usually the shortest waits. When a haunt or farm sells tickets online, buying ahead is a great way to get in on the night you want.
Dress for a cold, dirty night. Most of the best haunts and mazes are outdoors on farmland, so expect dust and dirt, uneven ground, fog effects and, if it's stormy, even mud. Closed-toe shoes and a warm layer you don't mind getting dirty make the night a lot more fun, and after dark October gets cold fast, especially in Northern Utah.
Make a night of it. Most of the big farms sell food on site, and every Go Do listing shows the restaurants nearby, so you can line up dinner before a haunt or hot chocolate after a corn maze. On a budget? 86 Halloween events this season cost nothing, from scarecrow walks and library parties to downtown trick-or-treating. See details below.
Haunted houses: Salt Lake, Davis, Weber and Tooele
The Wasatch Front's haunts range from a six-building downtown warehouse to haunted corn fields on the edge of town. Most run on select nights through Halloween, and a few keep going into November. The dates and prices for each one come straight from the venue's listing; open the listing for the exact nights and for more details.
If you only get to one, pick by the kind of scare you like: big indoor sets and long walk-throughs downtown, or outdoor trails through the corn where the dark does half the work.
Fear Factory
Now through Sun, Nov 1 · Fear Factory, Salt Lake City
Six buildings up to six stories high, with two underground passages, in Salt Lake City. It stays open through the first of November.
Frightmares
Now through Sun, Nov 8 · Lagoon, Farmington · $30
Lagoon turns the amusement park into a Halloween event with more than nine haunted attractions, plus rides, games and Halloween shows, all on one ticket. It's a good pick for a group that can't agree, since half of you can ride while the other half gets scared. It runs into November.
Field of Fear Haunted House
Now through Sat, Oct 31 · Happy Pumpkin Corn Maze, West Haven · $23–$30
A haunted corn maze and haunted house in a field of more than 160,000 square feet at Happy Pumpkin Corn Maze in West Haven. It opens at dark, Thursday through Saturday.
Night Stalkers Haunted Trail
Now through Sat, Oct 31 · Crazy Corn Maze, West Jordan
A haunted trail at the Crazy Corn Maze in West Jordan. If half your group wants scares and half doesn't, the same farm runs the not-scary Fright Lights walk (in the kids' section below).
Haunted houses: Utah County and Heber
Utah County has some of the longest-running haunts in the state, and they're close enough together that a Provo, Orem or Lehi group can choose by night rather than by drive. Two of the three sit on working farms with corn mazes, so a haunt can turn into a whole fall evening. Check them out below.
Haunted Forest
Now through Sat, Nov 7 · Haunted Forest, American Fork
American Fork's Haunted Forest is a Halloween tradition that began in 1990, and it covers more than 1,000,000 square feet of trails and sets, by the organizers' count. It's open into November.
Frightbelly's
Now through Fri, Oct 30 · Thanksgiving Point, Lehi
The haunt at Cornbelly's in Lehi (it used to be Insanity Point): 23 haunted scenes along a 30-minute trail through the corn. The ticket also covers hayrides, campfires and the regular 10-acre corn maze, which isn't haunted, so you can start the night easy and save the scares for after dark.
Field of Fright
Now through Fri, Oct 30 · Glen Ray's Corn Maze, Spanish Fork · $24.95–$27.95
A haunted corn maze at Glen Ray's in Spanish Fork with low light, fog, loud noises and uneven ground. Wear shoes you can walk a dark field in.
Heber Valley Haunted Hayride
Now through Sat, Oct 31 · Heber Valley Cheese, Midway
A wagon ride through acres of dark farmland at Heber Valley Cheese in Midway, finished on foot through a haunted hay maze. Yard games, bounce houses and the rest of the fall festival keep going after dark. Tickets aren't refundable.
Haunted houses: Southern Utah
Southern Utah's haunts are a bit warmer than up north, and they pair well with the region's scarecrow walks and harvest festivals. From St. George it's an easy evening to hit some of the options in Washington, and Kanarra Scare could be a great option for those on their way to or from Cedar City.
Field of Screams
Now through Sat, Oct 31 · Staheli Family Farm, Washington · $26.99–$40.99
Staheli Family Farm's haunt in Washington, open on select nights through Halloween, with tickets listed from $26.99 to $40.99.
Fiesta Fright Haunted House
Now through Sun, Nov 1 · Fiesta Fun Center, St. George
A two-story haunted house at Fiesta Fun Center in St. George, open through the first of November.
Kanarra Scare
Now through Sat, Oct 31 · Frisby Farms, Kanarraville · $10
A $10 night at Frisby Farms in Kanarraville, Thursday through Sunday all October: pick and carve a pumpkin, make a potion in the apothecary, and walk the indoor-outdoor scary maze.

Corn mazes and pumpkin patches
65 corn mazes, pumpkin patches and fall farm festivals are on Go Do this season. Most close Oct 31, and some patches close as soon as the pumpkins run out, so the earlier you go, the better your pick of pumpkins.
A lot of these farms have been doing this for decades, and most bundle the maze with hayrides, slides, animals and food. Check what the ticket includes on each listing; some charge separately for the extras or sell pumpkins by the pound.
Cornbelly's Pumpkin Fest in Spanish Fork
Now through Sat, Oct 31 · Cornbelly's Spanish Fork, Spanish Fork
Cornbelly's Spanish Fork location promises lower prices and smaller crowds, with more than 30 attractions: a corn maze, a sunflower festival, a train and a U-pick pumpkin patch.
Crazy Corn Maze

A family corn maze in West Haven with giant slides and swings. The farm's haunted house, Field of Fear (above), is the scarier side of the same field.
Robinson Family Pumpkin Patch
Now through Wed, Oct 28 · Robinson Family Pumpkin Patch, Cedar City · $2
Cedar City's $2 pumpkin patch, with free hay rides and a petting zoo; the pumpkin launching, corn pit, hay maze and horse rides cost a little extra, and pumpkins are sold by the pound. It's open weekday afternoons and all day Saturday until the pumpkins are gone.
Pappy's Fall on the Farm
Oct 24 – Nov 1 · Pappy's Farm, Farr West · $10
A first-ever fall festival at Pappy's Farm in Farr West, which is celebrating 100 years of farming: meet the calves and goats, decorate a pumpkin, play games and stop at the photo stations. It's $10 a person, $35 for a family of five, and kids 2 and under get in free.
Not so scary: Halloween for kids
274 trunk-or-treats, carnivals and kids' events are listed this season, most of them on the last weekend of October. These are the bigger ones, plus a few that run on many nights.
For the littlest trick-or-treaters, the best bets are the events made for them: city carnivals with a Trick or Treat Street, lights-on walks, and daytime trunk-or-treats. They're warmer, shorter and a lot less crowded than walking a neighborhood after dark, and most are free or just a few dollars.
