Halloween in Provo this year
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, which makes it a great weekend for families and friends all over Utah County. Provo does Halloween its own way: lots of family events, a downtown trick-or-treat on Center Street, BYU's museums and theaters, and some of Utah's longest-running haunts just a short drive up or down the valley. The last two weekends of October carry most of the big events, so there's still plenty of time to fit in a few.
Go Do pulls every one of these from the calendars of the cities, farms, theaters, libraries and museums that run them, and checks them daily so our picks stay as current as possible. Each pick below links to its full details, a map, the weather forecast, and restaurants nearby, so you can plan the whole night in one place.
We start with what's happening in Provo itself, then the city trick-or-treat nights around the county, a few grown-up nights out, and the haunts, farms and shows nearby. The full list of all 34 Provo Halloween events sits below the guide. Have a happy and safe Halloween!
How to plan your night
Pick the kind of night you want first. Little kids will love the city carnivals and trick-or-treat streets, which are mostly in the late afternoon and early evening and are free or just a few dollars. Teens and adults looking for a scare should head to the haunts, and anyone in between will have a great time at a corn maze, a pumpkin patch or a show.
Go early in the week if you can. The Friday and Saturday nights closest to Halloween are the busiest everywhere, and this year that means Oct 23–24 and Oct 30–31. When a haunt or farm sells tickets online, buying ahead is a great way to skip the line.
Dress warm and wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Evenings near the canyons cool off fast in late October, and the farms and haunted trails mean dust, uneven ground and sometimes mud. Some of the free library and museum events fill up, so register where the listing asks you to.
In Provo
Most of Provo's own Halloween is made for families: a city carnival, a pirate riverboat, a drum show, museum nights and downtown trick-or-treating. Here are our favorites.

Provo City's big Halloween carnival at the Rec Center: a Trick or Treat Street with favorite characters, carnival games, live entertainment and a hay house. Costumes are strongly encouraged, so come as your favorite hero, villain or anything spooky.
There are two sessions, 3–5:30 PM and 6:30–9 PM, so pick the one that fits nap time or dinner. Check the listing for ticket prices.
Downtown Trick-or-Treating

Paranormal Percussion
Oct 30 – Oct 31 · Covey Center for the Arts, Provo
