How Go Do finds and checks listings
Go Do lists events and activities across all 29 Utah counties — from Logan to St. George, Wendover to Moab — all in one place. Here’s where the listings come from and how we keep them right.
Where listings come from
- Organizers’ public calendars. Every morning GoDoBot, Go Do’s data crawler, reads the public event calendars and listings that organizers publish themselves — venues, cities and counties, libraries, schools and universities, teams, theaters, parks and community groups. It reads only public pages, follows each site’s robots.txt and visits gently.
- Organizers sending them in. Venues, cities, schools and ticket sellers can send their events straight to Go Do, free, through the data feed.
- Members. Members can suggest a calendar or venue Go Do is missing, and add their own events and get-togethers.
How we check them
- Duplicates. The same event often shows up on more than one calendar. Go Do merges them into one listing.
- Utah only. Listings outside Utah are left out.
- Past events. Events drop off the feed once they’ve ended, and dates that don’t make sense are set aside.
- Canceled and postponed. When an organizer cancels or postpones an event, Go Do marks it “Canceled by the organizer” or “Postponed” and never suggests it.
- Not things to do. Notices, closures, job posts and private meetings that turn up on public calendars are left out.
- Every day. All of this runs again every morning, so changes the organizer makes show up on Go Do the next day.
Event details come from the organizers’ own public listings. Times, prices and tickets can change — check with the organizer before you go.
